The event took place at the W Hotel in South Beach on May 9.

Dale Sorensen, Sr. founded Dale Sorensen Real Estate, Inc. in 1978.Â Before that he was headmaster at St. Edwards School and vice president for Gulf and Western Industries.Â
As vice-president in charge of government relations and real estate land issues, Dale traveled extensively between Florida, New York and the Dominican Republic. While in the Dominican Republic, he met his wife, Matilde, and they were married on June 17, 1972.Â
In 1978, Gulf and Western moved the Vero Beach office to West Palm Beach, but the Sorensens didn’t want to leave and decided toÂ form Dale Sorensen Real Estate, Inc.
Matilde earned her real estate license in 1980 and with aÂ total career sales in excess of $1 billion, she isÂ a leading real estate agent on the barrier island.Â She has been recognized nationally as one of America’s Best Real Estate Agents by REALÂ Trends three years in a row, is ranked in the top one-half of 1 percent of the more than 1,100,000 RealtorsÂ nationwide.Â
In 2016, Real Trends ranked her 104 in the nation, the only agent in Indian River County to achieve a ranking.
